ARA Tensioner Kits are application specific and
contain all the parts needed for your specific job.
Most kits contain a Tensioner, Pulley and Belt.
ARA Tensioner Kits help ensure your vehicle is
getting the right parts to get it back on the road
with assurance that the “Heart of the Drive Belt
System” is ready for the next 90,000 miles. Belts,
tensioners and pulleys seldom break, rather they
wear down over time. An inspection at 60,000
miles is recommended to look for uneven wear,
listen for noise or observe for belt slippage. Belts
and tensioners wear at the same rate.

“EPDM” belts usually won’t crack or break, they simply wear down. A wear belt
gauge is needed to determine the actual wear of a belt.
If you’re changing the belt you need to change the tensioner(s) and pulley(s).
A worn tensioner can cause the belt to wear twice as fast.

When you are replacing the Water Pump, Power Steering, Compressor, Timing or
Alternator it is the best time to replace your Tensioner, Pulley and Belt.

with 90,000 miles on the vehicle,
the tensioner will function
over 11 million times
Most tensioners will not show visual wear. If you are replacing the belt, replace the tensioner
